Guide Olesya

About myself

My name is Olesya and I have been working as an independent guide since 2006 with both individuals and groups. I first worked with cruise ships and am now employed with top 5* hotels of the city - Corinthia, Radisson, Golden Garden, W Hotel, Renaissance and others. I always adapt the tour to the expectations of my clients and try to give them the "perfect" tour to my ability and knowledge. I have been born and raised in Saint Petersburg, so I know the city very well -both its historical past and its modern life.

What I offer

I preach tailored approach to exploring Saint Petersburg, any city, in fact. That is why I do not only conduct classical tours - Hermitage, Peterhof, etc - I also take my guests to the places they might not have read about in the guidebook. I offer daytrips, walking tours, museum-tours, night-club tours, modern art tours, church and monastery tours, Saint Petersburg Porcelain Factory tour and others. I also drive a two-year old Nissan Micra.

My Background, Licenses and certificates

I have worked as a guide for more than six years now, combining this job with my studies. At the age of 15 I went on an exchange to the USA for one year, after which I majored in English and Intercultural Communication. Right now I am in my final year of the Master's in International Management Programme. In 2006 I was certified to work as a guide by the city's government and have proved my capabilities on the yearly basis. Moreover, my key employers are strict when it comes to quality control.

Client’s feedbacks

My husband and I and my best friend took a trip last summer which included 6 days in St. Petersburg. My friend had already purchased tickets for the Hermitage, so we were really looking forward to visiting that great museum. We also thought it would be best to find a guide for the first day we were in St. Petersburg and, boy, did we hit the jackpot. We were staying at the Renaissance Hotel in St. Petersburg. We asked the concierge at the hotel for a guide and Olesya Bakharevskaya showed up at the hotel to be our guide. First, Olesya is so very personable and knowledgeable about the city and its many interesting sites. Her English is excellent; our Russian was non-existent. Although we had bought tickets in advance, we would never have navigated the system of getting them without Olesya. She showed us the highlights of the Hermitage the first day (and we got in early enough not to be in the middle of the mob), circumnavigating the huge palace deftly. By the end of the day, we were entranced with her as a person and her thoroughness in explaining the museum and its art. Needless to say, we asked Olesya to guide us every day thereafter which she did. I truly believe we got the most wonderful tour of St. Petersburg, of Peterhof and Catherine's summer palace. She took us to excellent restaurants (not touristy), so that we got a picture of Russian life. She made arrangements for us when we asked, helped us shop and advised us on how to negotiate night boat rides and travel to the airport. If you are lucky enough to have Olesya as a guide, you will find your trip to St. Petersburg illuminating and hassle-free plus you will have someone with a sparkling personality whom you will want to befriend.
